i have used the nvda (non visual desktop access) screen reader for around a year now & find it a really accessible product & really like the fact it is totally free, open 2 development suggestions & works wid windows & linux. i just wanted others experiences & comments.

Hi, NVDA is a great product, it's always on my thumb drive, and I try to tell as many people about it as possible. There are many people who could use a screen reader, but think they can't afford one, or that they can't use a computer if not by accessing it through commercial screen readers, or even sadder, that they have no computer access at all.

A new release should come about soon, if it hasn't come out already.

NVDA is easy to use, and works pretty well. Add on a really good voice and it's even better.

I love the fact aht it works with ESpeak. The Greek support on there is excellent! That's the only synth that recognises the tonos. I just wished it workd on the Mac. As for the screenreader itself, while there are a few things it's lacking (most notably a review mode), it still rocks and I highly recommend it.

I still saying writing an open source program meant for use by blind people in a language that requires certain conventions to be followed reguarding indentation was a stupid idea.

1. NVDA 0.6P2 is now out, and it is the newest stable release fro those who don't want oto go playing arround with the snapshots.
2. NVDA won't work with Lonux, I don'
t think. If it does, which I highly doubt, how did they get it to work?
3. NVDA is great, especially helps when using public computers such as at schols and stuff. I've done it, (put NVDA on my flash drive) and it worked. Just wish they'd work on there IE support, because, in some situations, people can't run Firefox.

The new release of NVDA is very good and i liked the vertual buffers for firefox3. It works really well with web visum. I mannaged to register my avast and it is good that we can register with websites that require us to enter the letters from an immage indipendently.

I use the nvda snapshots, and I find it great. I messed up, and put firefox 3 on this laptop, and was using jaws 8, so if jaws decides that it doesn't wanna work with firefox, i switch to NVDA.
